The Experience
Discover the freedom of flight with this 60-minute lesson in Lancashire.
The Flying Lesson in Lancashire – 60 minutes takes place at Blackpool Airport, home to one of the region’s oldest and most respected flying schools. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by your instructor and given a safety briefing before completing a walk-around inspection of the aircraft.
You’ll then take your seat in a two-seater Cessna 150. With clear guidance, you’ll learn the key controls and assist in taxiing the plane to the runway before preparing for take-off.
Once in the air, your instructor will demonstrate the fundamentals of flying before giving you the opportunity to take control. Many participants find they fly for most of the lesson, building confidence while enjoying the views below. From the cockpit, you’ll see the Blackpool coastline, including the Golden Mile, Pleasure Beach and iconic Tower. On longer flights, the route may extend further towards Lancaster or the southern Lakes, giving you an even broader perspective.
After landing, you’ll receive a personalised certificate to celebrate your first steps into aviation. Friends and family are welcome to watch from the on-site café and lounge, making it a memorable day for everyone.

Minimum age is 14 years to count towards PPL
13 year olds, may be accommodated if requested
Maximum weight for 2 seater flights is 14 stone
Maximum weight for 4 seater flights is 18 stone

The Weather
All flights are dependent on weather conditions and operational requirements of the airport.
Session Length
Your session will last for approximately 60 minutes in the air, plus time for your pre-flight briefing and post-flight debrief with a certificate.
Numbers
Your voucher is valid for one person and the flight will be with your flight instructor only. It is possible to upgrade to a 4-seater package if you want to add participants - please contact our customer service team for more information.
Spectators
Friends and family are welcome to come along and share the experience. The airfield has a café and restaurant overlooking the runway, offering great views and a varied menu to enjoy while watching the activity outside.
What To Wear
Flying gear (Headsets, hi-vis jackets and ear defenders) will be supplied on site. Casual clothing is advised and we recommend that you wear trousers and flat shoes. (Not sandals or flip-flops!)

Available on selected weekdays (Tuesday to Friday) and Saturdays throughout the year. Flights are subject to availability and weather conditions
