Enjoy the best of England's heritage and beauty with this small group tour of Shakespeare's home town of Stratford upon Avon, including a visit to his birthplace.Travel through the delightful Cotswold hills along backroads and narrow lanes then explore historic Oxford University and it's picturesque colleges.With an in depth and detailed commentary from your knowledgable guide, your small group tour begins by heading North West of London, where you will be first taken to the timber framed splendour of Stratford upon Avon. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of Shakespeare's home town, where many buildings survive from his own lifetime. You'll see his wife's childhood home and the church where he was baptised and buried and then enjoy the included exhibition.A scenic drive will take you into the limestone uplands known as the Cotswold Hills. You'll explore narrow country lanes and back roads complete with honey coloured stone cottages. On your tour you will see beautiful places such as Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water, and there will be some time for lunch in one of these villages.In the afternoon you will be taken on an eye opening and informative guided walking tour of Oxford University, taking in ancient colleges, academic buildings, churches and chapels dating as far back as the 11th century. Explore some of Oxford's free museums after the tour ends before your return to London.
